A widow, Ms. Zipporah, can now enjoy a peaceful and quiet life in her piece of land following the intervention of the Commission.

According to Ms. Zipporah, the Officer Commanding Station, Serem Police Station, and her brother in-law were harassing her and demanded that she vacates her matrimonial home in Kakamega County. The OCS and the in-law would visit her home at night and demand she vacates the plot and the group could sometime stay on late into the night, forcing her to seek refuge at a neighbour’s home. The predicament prompted her to lodge a complaint with the Commission.

The Commission, by way of inquiry, took up the matter with the Director, Internal Affairs Unit, National Police Service, which brought to an end the harassment from the police and the in law.

Ms. Zipporah expressed her gratitude for the Commission’s intervention.

“I am happy that the Commission came to my aid when I needed help; following your intervention I am now living in peace and no one comes to disrupt my peace,” she said.
